The time has finally come: the Dutch Whistleblower Protection Act has been adopted by parliament. We expect it will inter into force within a few weeks. This article contains a 10-step plan for introducing or revising your whistleblowing procedure. You can also request our whitepaper.
Late last year, Transparency International published a brochure containing best practices for internal whistleblowing procedures. The brochure was created with funding from the European Union, as part of the European 'Speak Up Europe' project. The motivation behind the project was the implementation of the European directive to protect whistleblowers.
In December 2022, the House for Whistleblowers published a report on an investigation into wrongdoing at a government agency. The House concluded that public money was handled in a careless and unlawful manner and this lead to wrongdoing that affected the public interest.
