And again there is a delay. Parliament (the Lower House) is now scheduled discuss and vote on the Whistleblower Protection Act in the week of December 5. After that it still has to be approved by the Senate. Though increasingly unlikely, it is still possible that the new law will enter into force in January 2023. But there are still some items for discussion.
In recent months, we have reviewed a number of model procedures from the public sector that state that the management should follow up on reports and take care of the communication with the reporter. In mid-October, the House for Whistleblowers published the results of an investigation. This investigation looked into whether retaliation took place against a whistleblower after making a report. This indeed appeared to be the case.
